I had the problem that an old laptop unning Windows XP would not connect to the Arduino Mega board to run Repetier Host. None on the Arduino drivers would work and I could not to connect, no matter what I tried
After many hours of searching the Internet I found the solution from this guy on UTube
It appears that many of the Arduinos dont now use FTDI USB chips but CH340 USB chips. This guy has provided a link to download the driver for the CH340 which although in Chinese, works fine. After running the execuatable file it loaded the driver and I could connect to it without a problem.
I just thought I'd post this incase anyone else runs into this problem.
