Fredericton Makerspace Building The I3-RS
Fredericton Makerspace Building The I3-RS
Hello Everyone !
I'm located in Fredericton, Canada and there's a group of us at the local Makerspace that are planning to build this great printer design of Romain's this winter. At the moment we are studying the plans, pictures, files etc. and I have started to model the printer in Fusion 360 using Romain's solidworks files. It's going very smoothly so far, but I have come across a few small things - mainly questions. I will post them up here when I get a bit further along, but I just wanted to say hi and greetings from a group of makers in Canada that are getting on board the I3-RS train
I've added a couple of photos to this post of my results in Fusion 360 so far. I still have the extruder to complete and a few other things.

Hi Lewis ! Nice assembly

Thought you might like it
I've got a question on the firmware - what's different about the firmware on your website versus the "standard" marlin firmware for the MKS board? Is there some custom code in there for the led light bar on your design or something like that ? One of the fellows was asking me that the other day.

Re: Fredericton Makerspace Building The I3-RS
The firmware on MakerFr is just a stock Marlin configured for the I3-RS

Hello Romain -
While I was importing some of the solid model files you posted, this one was in the group. It looks like it's not used anywhere and perhaps was the starting point for the right and left "y_renforcement_front_A and B" ?
Also there was only one y-renforcement_front" files in the group of solid model files. I just mirrored it and created the other side version.
Just thought you might like to know and update your files sometime.
Best Regards,
Lewis

Hi !
This is weird ! maybe a convertion issue from Solidworks format to STEP !?
There is only one y-renforcement_front, it's normal, as you guessed, the second file is just mirrored

Hi Romain -
These items - Standoffs 6-32" male, M3 female - used to attach the heat bed to the frame - can you tell me what the length is ?
I have access to a a pile of old PCs and can get some motherboard standoffs from them, but they are varying sizes.
Thanks !
