Machine stops randomly (fixed)
Machine stops randomly (fixed)
Hi,
having my next problem and need some help again, please.
Machine is running, everything seems okey, (except the z-probe, but it can't depend on this) and testing several jobs I have always the same problem:
machine stops randomly! And its not reproducible.
The same job sometimes stops at 3%, 12% or 28% or finished once.
For example with five same starts, I have five stops at a different progess
No matter if i generate my grbl files from Estcam oder Fusion360, its the same.
No error messages, no obvious problems.
Just really simple moves are going through.
Thanks for help

Re: Machine stops randomly - Gcode suspended for more than 2 minutes
Seems the same problem as in:
viewtopic.php?t=7315
But unplugging the usb-cable helps not!!
Anybody any idea?
(1000rpm is not real - spindle is not connected!)

Re: Machine stops randomly
How are programs being loaded if USB isn’t in use?
If from a SD card, try another card, just curious.

Re: Machine stops randomly
Thx for the tip,
tried another one, but it's unfortunately the same - stops at 4%

Re: Machine stops randomly
Hi,
Often this error message appears when your wire between GRBL board and TFT board is not shielded or too long.
Did you wire your TFT as explained on the PDF manual ?

Re: Machine stops randomly
Hi Romain,
thanks for your answer.
I used two separate shielded cables for TX and RX and a unshielded double twisted cable for power and ground to the board.
One of them is a bit long - I'll cut it today and try again.
Puuh, I took hours of solving this problem, first with different files and parameters from Fusion360 and Estl-Cam cause I thougt this is the reason. Only than with different wirering and grounding the connections between all components.
Regarding this - I see very often on other cnc machines the signal cables to the stepper-drivers are shielded too.
Is this necessary?
As I've read in other posts it seems a problem between the connection of ESP32 and the STM32 and if I can't solve it - an update to V2.0 - could help this to fix it basically?
Thanks

Re: Machine stops randomly
The V2.0 uses a RJ45 cable between the two boards, this cable is already shielded, grounded, and factory made to avoid human error
(and lot of improvements https://www.makerfr.com/en/cnc/grbl-32b ... oard-v2-0/)
For the moment, nobody gets this error with the V2.0

Re: Machine stops randomly
Okey,
If everything is falling apart, I can still make an update.
Beneath that - last week I was shortly before at the point to make an order
Thanks for your great support!
I'll report if it works.
see ya

Re: Machine stops randomly
Its done!!
Right now everything works properly!
Made new short and shielded wires between STM32 and ESP32 and a accurate grounding and it works!
Thanks Romain!! - and as well to all other for support!
Now I can start to calibrate
