menage limit switches

Message par salomon »

Hi,
Is it also possible to connect and manage limit switches in overrun as safety protection and not only in Homing?
It would be very useful especially when moving the carts in manual mode.
Thanks in advance.

When installed, limit switches are also used to avoid overrun (due to Gcode command or manual Move).
You can also activate the "soft limit switch" in order to avoid overun in the direcrtion where you did not install physical limit switch but then you have to perform a Home ( at each power on) and to define the dimensions on the axes.
All this is to set up in the GRBL parameters.

OK
overall thanks for your answer
But I wanted to know if it is possible to install and manage the limit switches also on the opposite side of the zero axis "BEYOND" to the "soft limit switch", in practice an "Hardware limit switch", to be used to activate a relay that switches off the motors for greater safety . More or less like the emergency button.
thanks

You can install limit switches on both side of an axis and so you do not need to use soft witches.
If you use normally closed switches, you have to put the 2 limits witches on one axis in serial.
If you do not trust GRBL for handling the limit switches for stopping the motor, you should have to build you own circuit in order to activate a relay that should stop powering the motors.
