I have not yet updated my RS CNC to the 32bit version (parts are on order now) as I've been very happy with the performance I've been getting. For much of what I cut, I dont need absolute precision.
That said, the last two days, suddenly the X axis will lose its position. When not milling and using the nunchuck to move, the X only moves at less than half speed. I checked the wiring and it all looks fine. It goes in and out. Could this be a stepper motor issue?
X axis suddenly changes to half speed

Re: X axis suddenly changes to half speed
Is it only an issue about speed or also an issue about the distance.
When you ask for a move of 100mm, do you cnc move on 100mm or on another distance.
If it moves on the expected distance, I do not expect it is an issue with the driver.

It does not move the expected distance.
Re: X axis suddenly changes to half speed
If the distance is not the expected, it could be an issue with:
- the driver (microstep setup)
- the setup (parameter steps/mm or width of the step pulses).
To check if it is a driver issue, you could switch the drivers between X and Y.

Re: X axis suddenly changes to half speed
What is interesting is that if I do a power cycle of the stepper driver, it will work correctly for some time, and then have an issue at random. I have another new TB6600 which I have not yet tried but likely will tonight.
