Starting problems
Starting problems
Hello together,
last week I got a complete "unused" parts kit for the RS-CNC32 via a advertisement.
The kit includes the printed PLA parts (more or less quality ), the most of the mechanical parts and the following electronic parts:
- GRBL 32bit board (new as it seems)
- the STM32 (new)
- ESP32 (new)
- TFT (new)
- ST-link
- 24V 10A PowerSupply
- three Nema23, but two differnet types without any label!
- 3 stepper driver - maybe some ST-M5045 - but I'm not sure?!
I decided to check the electric parts in a small simulation area before builidng up the complete machine.
I followed all electronic steps in the assembly manual,- firmware uploads, module installation and so on.
In my evaluation everything works fine.
I connected 1x Nema23 and one of the stepper driver for the test.
After finishing I was ready to start the first test with moving one axis, but the stepper motor doesnt work!!!
No step, no rotation - nothing! Just a very small jerk after switching on the power.
After that I checked all Nemas and stepper drivers in combination, all directions x, y and z - no success!
I also checked the wiring at least 10 times, no success.
Need help please!
Photos are enclosed. (Nema is left outside the picture)
Thanks, sanremo

Re: Starting problems
are you sure that you correctly identify the wires A+ and A- of the steppers.
Do not trust the colors of the wires.
Use a e.g. multimeter.

Re: Starting problems
Hi sanremo,
From now I believe it is to early to incriminate the motors wiring.
When you power on the RS-CNC32, you have ?? in the top right corner of the screen, isn't it ?
If it is the case you have another major issue to solve first.
Please, post a picture of the whole screen and another one of the GRBL adapter board. We need to see how you connected the GND, 5v, TX and RX wires on this board.
See ya,

Re: Starting problems
Thanks for your fast response!
Yes, I made two checks with the stepper cables.
First with a multimeter / buzzer and
second with a bright LED by turning the shaft
Both are confirm:
A+ /A- are Black/Green
B+ / B- are Blue/Red
Greetings
Re: Starting problems
I repeat even if it seems, in my opinion it is not a motor's issue.

Re: Starting problems
Hi, I think that Htheatre said the solution, if you get "??" at the top right of the screen , it means that there is a communication issue, in the tutorial i explain that Rx pin of TFT goes on Tx pin of GRBL board, and vice versa, don't plug Tx on Tx and Rx on Rx ! (Rx = Receiver and Tx = Transmitter)
Status at the top right corner MUST be "Idle" to work

Re: Starting problems
Thanks Romain. In fact, on the picture showing the touch screen, that sanremo posted, I believe to figure out the two points of "??".RoMaker a écrit : ↑17 avr. 2021 00:48 Hi, I think that Htheatre said the solution, if you get "??" at the top right of the screen , it means that there is a communication issue, in the tutorial i explain that Rx pin of TFT goes on Tx pin of GRBL board, and vice versa, don't plug Tx on Tx and Rx on Rx !

Yes, I have two ?? on the top corner of the TFT.
Photos of all connections from the board is enclosed.
For explanation:
White -> GND to PowerSupply
Orange -> 24V to PowerSupply
Red -> 5V to ENA+/DIR+/PUL+ StepDriver
yellow -> ENA-
blue (left side) -> PUL-
violett -> DIR-
Green -> RX TFTboard
blue ->TX TFTboard
black -> GND TFTboard
red -> 5V TFTboard

I thougt this first too - but the wiring ist TX - RX and RX - TX not equal...

Re: Starting problems
You have ?? on the screen, it's a communication issue.
If your wiring between TFT and GRBL board is ok, i think that your STM32 is not well flashed.
Flash it again after well reading tutorial.
Or your welding of the pins on the STM32 have to be checked
