Re: Stepper motor noise

I found by reducing the voltage awhile reading amps there is a as sweet spot where you can tune the noise out. And by making minute adjustments to belt tension / mechanical binding which drives resistance into amps. More amps more noise. The amp meter reading will help ensure the lowest possible amp...

Re: axis offsets

If you own a dial indicator, I’d consider putting a known straight sided block and lay it out and tram your machine. By running the dial indicator in y then x axis if you got a movement problem that will help find it, check you tube videos for more info. Based on your findings it may suggest an axis...

Re: Machine stops randomly

How are programs being loaded if USB isn’t in use?

If from a SD card, try another card, just curious.

Re: Starting problems

I’m getting closer to where your at now. Something I noticed in your picture. If I read the wiring and power information correctly I see you have a white cable running to the STM32, and no cable connected to the ESP32 board. In the instructions it seems to say to plug the usb power cable or PC to th...

Re: SoCal RS-CNC32 Initial Build Summary

Thank you so much.Giles. I got a local and cloud copy. :) John, I found a couple of nice clamp parts And printable parallels, v blocks etc up Thingiverse. Your braver than I am to use a metal clamp for close in machining. When I learn milling back in the 70’s there was no plastic or 3dprinters so me...

Re: SoCal RS-CNC32 Initial Build Summary

Looking forward to getting stuff together. Thanks for the board suggestion. Do you happen to have anything in your documentation on this? I’ll be glad to send pics as needed. If you want to add it. I calibrated the dolly using the side plates and rails before starting the motor assembly, a construct...

Re: SoCal RS-CNC32 Initial Build Summary

My 20 year old Craftsman vacuum has been place in the back 1/2 of my building and that works great for noise for now. I am adding a cyclone dust collector made from 2 big box store buckets. All off the shelf parts. No printed 3D parts needed. I’ll let you know how that works out. Plans from You Tube...

Re: SoCal RS-CNC32 Initial Build Summary

Great presentation and a beautiful machine. I’m about 50% done with my full AliExpress kit. Both of your mods are great concepts. And thanks for the easy to follow instruction document. My ANet A6 printer had some bad problems when I tried printing the modified x motor drive. But I got printed today...

Re: calibrate the axis and xy angle

Sounds like the calibration may be off. Start with the melts and roller assenblies checking ofr a binding condition. If you can hook up a amp meter and measure each motor singliluary. Once motors are tuned then you need to start each axis calibration. Some folks call it treammeling. Here is a good y...

Re: Ideas for improving RS-CNC

I'm interested in seeing more details about the modifications you made. I have a spindle similar to yours and wanted to hear about what modification s were needed to get it operational. I got a cheap electrical panel form Ebay that I'm going to be using to house my VFD and all of the other electrica...
