Sorry, I was in a hurry and cut straight to the point.
I found my issue. On my stepper drivers, I made the z different from x and y due to the different gear ratio. Once I set them the same, the problem went away.
Thanks for your help

[SOLVED] - Z step
Using V1.5 and my z step is half of what I set in software. I've been just doubling the value as I've been cutting through but now have a project where I want 3d.
What do I need to do to adjust z step?

Just Upgraded
I just updated to 1.5 (seems like I must have just missed ordering when 2.0 came out - next time). While updating, I also changed from TB6600 drivers to the DM556 stepper drivers. IT IS SO MUCH QUIETER NOW! Couple things I'm hoping there is a way to change settings. 1) By default, my CNC comes locke...

Re: X axis suddenly changes to half speed
What is interesting is that if I do a power cycle of the stepper driver, it will work correctly for some time, and then have an issue at random. I have another new TB6600 which I have not yet tried but likely will tonight.

Re: X axis suddenly changes to half speed
It does not move the expected distance.

X axis suddenly changes to half speed
I have not yet updated my RS CNC to the 32bit version (parts are on order now) as I've been very happy with the performance I've been getting. For much of what I cut, I dont need absolute precision. That said, the last two days, suddenly the X axis will lose its position. When not milling and using ...

Re: Z axis losing position?
I dont think it's a plunge rate as it's not that consistent. I've only have seen it with material and only not retracting far enough, so just in the up direction. It's almost like it is seeing phantom counts. Has anyone tried any ferrite beads? Wondering if it could be electrical noise since it does...

Z axis losing position?
For small simple parts, my router works great. And most of the time, as long as the material is 5mm or less, I have no problems. However, if I am working with thicker material, occasionally the z axis seems to lose counts when raising as it either won't raise the whole way, or plug too deep (and twi...

MeshCAM
Anyone ever used MeshCAM with the RS-CNC? I've used it with other CNCs without issue, but I'm struggling to find the right profile. There has to be at least 30 options, but most end with .NC which doesn't seem to show up on the TFT. I've found .GCD and .NGD seem to work, but best I've been able to d...
